Progress Report

No significant progress to report this week, just quietly moving forward on several fronts. I’ve been spending as much time as I can getting into the books and the learning for iPhone development, so I barely lifted my head up to watch the world go by.¬†

Andrey has been sending out notes about the DoubleTake release to everyone possible - the Apple games download site has been a great source of traffic.

I had to do some Java work this week, and those were the only times I needed to boot my Mac into Windows all week… Oh, except for watching a football game on a website that streams in WMV format, Mac OSX doesn’t seem to like it much, even with flip4mac.

One Java task was to make Asteroid Jane compatible with the new BlackBerry Bold - Ania is making progress on the iPhone version.

Apparently yesterday was talk like a pirate day, so have a belated “Arrrrr” from me. Also makes it a good time to mention how I’m looking forward to Capcom’s new XBLA game, Age of Booty. Looks like it could be nice simple fun, judging by the little bits of gameplay footage in the GiantBomb team’s drunken test drive.

I saw you on the Apple Games site, and was going to ask how that was working out: how significant is it? (if you don’t mind me asking)

Hey Eli, compared to any of the other download sites it’s been listed on so far, very. Based on the bandwidth spike, they were the source of quite a few hundred downloads in the first couple of days, and the traffic didn’t look like it was going to drop off too quickly.

It’s the first PC/Mac game we’ve released, and it’s not on (m)any other big gaming sites so far, so I don’t have a lot of useful data to measure it against, but it felt like a pretty good haul.
